Market Player Chooses Yes Energy Bid-to-Bill Software to Navigate SPP Markets+
by Jason Hebert on Jan 12, 2026
A major market player has chosen Yes Energy to manage its participation in Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Markets+. This is the second customer selecting PowerCore to help build their operations in the new market, expected to go live in fall 2027.
For organizations that have selected to participate in the new markets, our bid-to-bill software is based on our extensive experience with the SPP Markets. It combines real-time data with market data, your proprietary data, power grid modeling, and demand forecast data.
Solving Core Financial Control Challenges for Utilities Entering Markets+
While entering a new market can be challenging, you can make the process easier with PowerCoreTM, designed specifically for each power market. Benefits include:
- Reliable meter submissions: Meter data is critical for accurate financial settlements. Data errors or failed submissions may result in inaccurate billing.
Our utility billing and settlement software displays meter submissions clearly, flagging issues and providing immediate feedback if data is rejected or the connection fails. The platform saves time in submission validation and streamlines audits with traceability.
- Automated complex settlement and reconciliation processes: Automation moves utilities away from reactive, manual management to create significant operational and financial advantages—streamlining close cycles, speeding up billing and payment, and reducing errors and missed disputes.
PowerCore simplifies and automates complex settlement formulas for analysis and settlement validation, inclusive of presettlement and shadow settlement routines. Automated variance detection and traceability eliminate the common pain points associated with manual reconciliation.
- Forecasting capability: A limited forecasting ability often precludes organizations from testing how market and regulatory changes will impact financial outcomes.
PowerCore users can leverage presettlements and scenario analysis to understand resilience by testing various futures and making data-driven decisions for investment and strategy. You can calculate resettlements to within a penny and configure custom rules to generate alerts for anomalous settlement results, improving forecasting abilities.
- Transparent analytics: Lack of comprehensive data visualization obscures analytical insights and increases operational burden. When you can’t easily drill down on charge code details and customize data views, your organization gains more administrative work at a slower, less efficient pace.
Our bid-to-bill solution offers comprehensive charge code details and data visualization, enabling you to easily compare charge code amounts with individual code variances clearly displayed into the lowest level charge code interval and billing determinants. With PowerCore’s dynamic UI and granularly parsed data, you can analyze discrepancies, extract data, and generate custom reports.

About SPP Markets+
SPP Markets Plus is not an RTO, a key distinction from SPP's Integrated Marketplace. Instead, it functions as an independent market operator while keeping transmission and balancing authority responsibilities with existing entities.
What PowerCore Can Do
PowerCore financial control capabilities include meter data management, settlements, preshadow settlements, and “what-if” shadow analytics. It continually adapts to the changing energy marketplace, ensuring back-office efficiency, compliance, and strategic alignment with your financial goals.
More than 50 market participants in the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), SPP, and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) use PowerCore. Their choice confirms we’re leading the way in building front, middle, and back-office decision support tools to help you make better decisions.
