Demand Projections: When, Where, and How Much
June 24, 2026 | 1:00 p.m. EST | Part 2 of 4
For the last decade, generation interconnection queues have been flooded with wind, solar, and battery projects seeking to connect to the grid.
To the point where getting favorable interconnection positioning became a market in and of itself.
Now demand is having its shining moment in the interconnection queue game, with TSP’s receiving major load center connection requests, to the point where ERCOT’s most recent TSP provided demand forecast has an astounding 368 GW peak in 2032, over 4X the current demand peak.
In the second installment of the Yes Energy Summer Demand Series, Alex Bennitt, Product Manager and former market fundamentals manager will dig into the demand projections grabbing headlines across the country, while covering the large disparity between projections and what’s actually possible from a grid connection standpoint.
In this session, you'll learn:
- Why demand projections are so wide
- How to screen the queue with forward looking interconnection queue data
- Weather adjust load actuals and forecasts
- Practical ways to use these methods to improve your market positioning on long-term demand
