Yes Energy has been working in ERCOT since 2008, and we’ve seen the market evolve while we’ve adapted through every change.
RTC+B introduced real-time co-optimization of energy and ancillary services, changing how prices, reserves, and dispatch are determined. For traders, this means new pricing dynamics, different congestion outcomes, and a greater need to understand what’s driving real-time market behavior.
Yes Energy supports power market participants across all 11 North American ISOs and RTOs.
Under RTC+B, real-time LMPs now reflect both the cost of energy and the opportunity cost of providing reserves. This co-optimization can shift congestion patterns and price outcomes, impacting both short-term trading opportunities and risk exposure.
SCED continues to run on a five-minute interval but now simultaneously optimizes energy and ancillary services. New signals, such as Updated Desired Set Points (UDSPs), provide additional insight into regulation deployment and real-time dispatch behavior.
More than 100 ERCOT reports were added, modified, or retired as part of the RTC+B transition. Traders need to ensure they’re using the updated real-time price, reserve, and deployment reports to accurately reflect post-RTC+B market outcomes.
Batteries are now modeled as a single resource with state-of-charge incorporated directly into real-time optimization, changing dispatch and pricing behavior. RTC+B also enables purely financial virtual participation in ancillary services, which may affect liquidity, spreads, and asset-driven strategies over time.
