Senior Director, IT Infrastructure and Systems Operations

This senior leadership role is accountable for the enterprise wide IT infrastructure and systems operations for the company. The Senior Director will report to the VP of Systems Operations and Database Development, and will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of all third-party and internally managed IT infrastructure used to support all business process across the enterprise. This individual will have significant technical infrastructure experience, strong project management acumen, excellent vendor management skill, plus a superior, service-oriented approach to infrastructure operations. Main responsibilities for this role will be to ensure quality, efficiency, and agility goals are achieved in operational and service management processes. As a member of the IT leadership team, the role contributes to the development and execution of the enterprise wide IT strategy and ensures its alignment with the enterprise's business strategy and the delivery of capabilities required to achieve business success. Expectation from this role is to come in as both a business leader and a technologist with a vision for how IT can enable productivity and efficiency for the enterprise.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to move seamlessly between strategic systems development and operations planning, and hands-on implementation and management as dictated by business needs. This position will have primary responsibility for the development of a deep and functional Systems Administration “team” that monitors and operates our business critical data systems, platforms, and critical cloud resources.
The position requires a manager that can both lead and execute production support, system design, server and network monitoring, backup and recovery, system on-call duties, and management of the Data Systems and Administration Team.
Manages one of the company’s largest budgets including Human, Hardware and Systems Asset Resources
Translates key stakeholder, system, and application requirements into system architecture that will meet business needs, including server infrastructure, capacity planning, storage requirements, and networking protocols.
Oversees the planning, maintenance, development, and operation of our server and technology infrastructure.
Maintains an eye on changing technology landscape and providing a fresh vision for Yes Energy’s technology platform and roadmap.
Participates in, and manages resources that monitor all aspects of server, storage, and network performance, identifying and fixing key bottlenecks and performance issues.
Primary ownership of managed service/hosting relationship management.
Research, evaluate and integrate new software, software versions, drivers, and hardware.
Key member of cross-functional data security team
Respond to and resolve incident and problem tickets

Prior management of both direct and indirect resources in an IT infrastructure or Systems Administrator role
Past P&L and budgetary responsibility including justification and ROI analysis
Exceptional Project Management and communication skills
10 years Linux (preferably Red Hat)
5 years Oracle databases and Oracle ASM
Infrastructure/system design and engineering experience
Knowledge/Experience with IO-optimized storage systems, particularly SSD and NVMe.
Cloud experience, particularly with alternate data stores and large-scale data integration
Storage Technology related certifications or training highly desirable (Dell/EMC).
Experience with moving/migrating systems and data.
Strong technical knowledge of server, storage, operating systems and network infrastructures highly are desirable.
Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
3+ years experience managing enterprise class storage arrays.
3+ years experience with storage protocols – SCSI, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, CiFS, NVMe.
Understanding of replication and snapshot methodologies used in enterprise storage environments.
Experience maintaining high availability storage subsystems capacity and configuration.
Experience troubleshooting complex incidents and problems associated to storage environments and related applications.
15% -- 20% Travel Required depending on location of hire (Boston or Boulder)
