Position Summary

Yes Energy is looking for a motivated professional to join our Geo/Objects Data team in the role of Geo Content Analyst II.  Utilizing maps, database code (SQL, PL/SQL), data proofs, web research and Yes Energy’s software, the Geo Content Analyst will work with the Operational Director and the rest of Geo/Objects team to maintain and improve data accuracy and quality for a wide range of energy market data.  The role will include taking leadership of team projects and managing them from start to finish, helping oversee data quality efforts, looking for opportunities to increase efficiency and automation of tasks, and providing direction to more junior team members. We would love to hear from candidates who have a passion for data visualization and data quality, an interest in maps and a desire to solve puzzles.  Knowledge of or interest in learning about Nodal Power Markets is also desired.

Note, we consider ourselves to be a GIS-lite company and we use internal software for all of our mapping and geo-quality tasks. 

The position is located in our Boulder, Colorado office.

  • Infrastructure Research – ensure the quality/completeness of our database of transmission infrastructure, power plants, price nodes, and market events

  • Process and Product Leadership - identify, define, develop and implement projects and processes to continually improve the quality of our data and maps

  • Data Quality Assurance – ensure that our datasets are complete, correct and timely

  • Metric Development - provide Operations Director with summaries of data issues, progress reports and management reports

  • Customer Support - coordinate with the Customer Support team and other technical groups to resolve data issues and development requests (a qualified candidate may also have the opportunity to participate directly in Customer Support if desired)

  • Software Testing - assist with software testing and quality assurance on Yes Energy’s suite of products

  • Collaboration - work with other analysts and technical teams to create, implement and maintain various geo content projects

  • Process Development - create standards and guidelines for all aspects of Geo/Objects data



  • 3-4+ years experience managing data, ideally geographic data

  • 3-4+ years experience in a role requiring attention-to-detail

  • 1-2 years experience in management, leadership, project ownership

  • A completed B.S. or B.A. degree (Geography, Economics, Computer Science, Math, and Engineering are common majors but we are open to others)

  • Proactive self-starter

  • Infinite desire to make things better

  • Strong interest in maps

  • Passion for quality, efficiency and continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated interest in problem-solving

  • Must have a strong attention to detail

  • Programming experience - SQL, PLSQL

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (charting, formulas, pivot tables, macros, etc)

  • Strong knowledge of energy markets or a desire to learn 

  • Familiarity with Power Plant and Generation data a plus

  • Customer support experience a plus

  • Experience with powerflow models a plus
